There is a great book out there I think everyone ought to read: “As a Man Thinketh” by James Allen. If we all could just understand the power of the human mind…imagine! After 25 years, I continue to invest in deeper understandings as when we pursue such an endeavor as this, it can only result in enhancing our lives in so many ways.
The underlying premise of this masterpiece is that every person has their own power to control whatever condition, good or bad, that exists in their life. By thereafter working on their thoughts, they can actually change the conditions of their environment as well as their circumstances. Yes, this is the means by which we can individually transform our lives. We hold that power in our own hands.
But the basis of this concept is truly found in “the good book” aka the Bible. Here is the exact language as found in the King James version (Proverbs Chapter 23, verse 7:
Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats: For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee, but his heart is not with thee. The morsel which thou has eaten shalt thou vomit up, and lose thy sweet words.”
So, our own reality has a basis within our “hearts”…for it is our hearts that feed our mind. Recognizing this clearly establishes in all of us incredible power, most of which goes untapped. So, truly the statement “If I believe I can or believe I can’t, I am always right.” This being foundational, why would I ever choose to doubt myself at anything?
Therein lies the problem. When we choose to do something, our mind is on auto-pilot based on our subconscious with the content we have filled it all of our lives. Alright, not all of our lives but clearly proof exists that our subconscious starts taking data in by the age of 3-4. Much of what we have stored is “unknown” to us. In other words, our present memory is not able to carry the years of information on every happening in our life, nor what we in that moment concluded that it meant. So, even though our decisions are being made based on this history, we cannot truly recall what the basis is for our decision. And at times, we call it intuition.
So, do we now see the truth to the statement…”If you think you can or think you can’t, you will always be right.” Your mind is in control of virtually every decision you make and how you perform. Reprogram that subconscious to free yourself to a more positive outlook on all you do and position yourself to truly believe “I can do anything I set my mind to,” and watch how your life moves forward.
For me, it was never about the number of degrees I obtained which provided me no such insight. It was instead a few experiences where I hit brick walls, and it was those exact events in my life that challenged me to realize “there must be more out there.” When I ventured into the mindset work, within a couple of years I felt I “grew a new set of wings.” It is the exact reason I now teach three tiers of courses in support of everyone tackling their subconscious thinking so they too “can fly.”
